Bullet Point Tuesday (0)

*Showed the house two more times over the weekend. More on this later.

*Another awesome weekend at Foothills. I'm not sure about the numbers, but there were more people "flip the switch" and commit their lives to Christ!

*Seeing people accept God's gift of salvation, and turn their lives over to Him never gets old!

*Sunday was the student ministry's fourth annual Turkey Bowl. Deep fried turkey (props to Dave, Tammy and Tom), sides and dessert, and flag football. Incredible!

*We had 50 who played football, and at least 25 more who hung-out with us. The exciting part of those numbers were the 9 students who had recently "flipped the switch" that joined us for the day.

*Congrats to David Odom for leading the only undefeated team. I'm still trying to figure-out how he cheated :)

*Got an offer on our house! We countered...they countered...we countered...they countered...we accepted. That's right...as I speak, I am waiting on a contract to sign!

*God is so good. I can't begin to explain how excited I am today. Please pray that Michelle and I find a place to buy or rent. It looks like we're supposed to close on December 22.

*GOD IS GOOD!!! Labels:

Bullet Point Tuesday on Thursday (0)

Ridiculously busy week. Before long, I'll be doing "Bullet Point Tuesday...A Week Late."

*Another incredible weekend at Foothills. We had around 30 more people flip the switch, and commit their lives to Christ! That's around 70 in two weeks (that we know about).

*As far as students go, they are making up almost a third of that number...I love it!

*THRIVE was great on Sunday night. You can tell that the students genuinely enjoy being at church. How? They're starting to show-up an hour and a half early! I'm glad, too. We had a ton of chairs to move around :)

*David Odom led worship again. I love this guy (even though he beats me 9 out 10 times we play ping pong)! He really has a gift for connecting others with Christ through music.

*We had an INCREDIBLE team of volunteers paint the lobby of our student center. These men, women, and students did a great job. Thanks guys! You have no idea how your hard work will affect a student's life.

*Yes, paint on a wall can affect a student's life. How? If they're drawn to Foothills because of a pimped-out gaming lounge, they will hear the Gospel, and trust me, that will definitely change a life.

*"Ignite 09" is locked and loaded. David Nasser will be our speaker. I can't wait. For you student ministry folks who are reading this: March 6-7, $40/person. Shoot me a comment if you're interested in your group participating.

*Excitement is building for our Christmas series. Work has begun on our stage set, and I've been putting the finishing touches on my talks. Don't miss November 30...it's gonna be a great week!

*Turkey Bowl is Sunday!

*Finally played ping pong against Greg. I don't like to gloat, so I'll stop typing ;) (Just kidding Greg...I love my job!) Labels:

Christmas Unwrapped (0)

We've spent a lot of time this week prepping our Christmas series. While only two weeks, we're coming at this thing from a totally different angle. We want our students to look at this holiday in way like they've never experienced. I'm really excited about our topics: "Shut-Up and Talk" and "The Truth About Christmas." While week 2 is going to include something that you don't want to miss, week 1 is the one that I'm most excited about. You can imagine it as the "pre-Christmas story."

So, if you're in the neighborhood, drop by THRIVE on November 30 and December 7 for "Christmas Unwrapped!"

Bullet Point Wednesday (0)

Been a crazy week so far, so here's "Bullet Point Tuesday" a day late...

*Incredible weekend at Foothills. We had over 40 people commit their lives to Christ! Well, at least that how many cards were turned-in. I really believe that God is going to blow our doors off during the rest of the "Switch" series.

*Nine of those commitments were students. We've already had some great conversations with some of them, and we're looking forward to continuing those conversations today.

*THRIVE was jumpin' Sunday night. There was a load of energy from the beginning to the end. We continued our series, "Stuck" by talking about be unwilling to change. Lots of awesome feedback from the students.

*Our students are getting fired-up about MERGE and COLLIDE. The middle (MERGE) and high (COLLIDE) school split begins January 4th...can't wait.

*Made some great connections with possible volunteers last week. With the split coming, we need as much help as we can get. If you love teenagers, and want to see them fall in love with Jesus, give me a call.

*Spent Monday and Tuesday working on our Christmas series. It's only going to be two weeks, but I really believe that the impact will be huge. More info later.

*Apparently, the Cracker Barrel in G'ville only staffs serious people on Tuesday nights...that joint needed to liven-up. I think Michelle and I helped them with that :) Labels:

Just Plain Wrong (1)

Before getting too far into this post, let me state that there are many things that are "more wrong" than those that will be listed...just let me have my fun.

Until this past weekend, there were three things that I considered "just plain wrong." That list has now grown, and I've decided to share it with you.

1. Animals wearing clothes
What purpose does this serve? For those of you who would argue that it keeps them warm, let me ask you a question: Do you keep your animals inside? If so, just turn the thermostat up a little bit. That should help. Why am I opposed to such antics? The answer is simple: it's just not natural. Clothes were meant for humans. If God intended animals to wear clothes, I'm sure that Adam and Eve would have made fig leaf suits for all of them.

2. Movies with humans interacting with cartoons
No. I did not like "Space Jam" or "Who Framed Roger Rabbit." As unnatural as it is for animals to wear clothes, it's even worse when this takes place. Sorry. I just find it a little creepy

3. Drinking after someone else
I've been told that this one will change once we have kids, but for the time being, DO NOT DRINK AFTER ME! Only over the course of the last three years have I let Michelle start drinking after me, so don't even think that you're going to do the same. OK. So I'm a little OCD with this one...sorry.

Now for the two new ones:

4. Do not play Christmas music before Thanksgiving
After last Friday's "Freaky Friday," Michelle and I decided to drive back to Greer at 12:30AM. At precisely 1:36AM Saturday, while changing stations so I would stay awake, we heard our first Christmas song of the year. That's just not right! I will actually allow you the week before Thanksgiving if you just can't hold out any longer. Consider it an early gift to go along with your early listening...you're welcome.

5. No Christmas decorations before Thanksgiving
Michelle and I actually saw a house that was decorated last night (November 5). Come on. Let's at least get through one holiday before moving on to the next one. Seriously. It's bad enough that I went into Target last week and saw the Christmas decorations beginning to push-out the Halloween stuff.

So there you go. My list of "just plain wrong." Please don't let me catch you doing any of this stuff...it could get ugly.

This is all in good fun. While I do consider all of this stuff "just plain wrong," I'm not going to go nuts on anyone if they're doing any of it. Come on, folks. Laugh!

*Freaky Friday was a success. Had around 70 students and adults; most of which were not Foothills attenders. Lots of great connections were made.

*Clemson finally beat Boston College! I'm on the Dabo Swinney bandwagon, but that Mike Leach bandwagon is tempting.

*Sunday was a great day at Foothills. Huge crowd...over 2,000 between our two campuses.

*Greg's first message in the "Switch" series was great. Which zone are you in?

*THRIVE was cool. Numbers were off, but the place was rockin'! David Odom led worship for us. He has an insane ability to connect students with God through music.

*Kicked-off our new series "Stuck." The spider web stage set is pretty sick.

*Talked about how fear causes us to get stuck. Lots of great feedback from the students.

*Voted this morning. Waited in line for 45 minutes. From what I've heard, that's better than a lot of people.

*Parlayed my "I Voted" sticker into a free cup of coffee at Starbucks!

*I forgot to add the last video in the Life Lessons with Mr. Tim series. You'll find it below.
